St. Ambrose College Old Boys ran out 19 - 0 winners in a tough encounter against the Catholic College’s current first team to lift the Brother Doyle Trophy. Played in honour of an inspirational former Christian Brother sports master, the Saint Ambrose College Old Boys’ Association sponsored a new kit for the old boys team, which will be passed on to the next generation only to be worn for this one off annual encounter.
Playing in accordance with RUF guidelines only against boys who had left the previous year, the current first team could not break down the Old Boys’ resolute defence.

Fly half James Conville, winger Thomas Barnes and back row James Marsden scored for the Old Boys as their increasing pressure in difficult muddy conditions paid dividends.
James Conville said: “It was a fantastic match played in the right spirit and gave us all a wonderful opportunity to meet old friends at a place we all still hold very dear.”
